Vancouver Canucks Recall Elias Pettersson From Abbotsford

The Vancouver Canucks have recalled defenseman Elias Pettersson from the Abbotsford Canucks, it was reported Sunday.

Known amongst fans as 'D-Petey', Pettersson began the season with Abbotsford, collecting four assists in 15 games.

Drafted by the Canucks in the third round of the 2022 NHL Draft, this is Pettersson's first full North American season. Prior to coming over at the end of 2023-24, Pettersson played the majority of the year with Vasteras IK in Sweden's second-tier pro league, the HockeyAllsvenskan.

With this being Pettersson's first NHL recall, he will have many fans excited to see him in action. A smart, puck-moving defenseman who remains calm under pressure, Pettersson has the chance to make his NHL debut Tuesday when the Canucks take on the New York Rangers.
