Van Nistelrooy favourite for Leicester City job – reports
Ruud van Nistelrooy has emerged as the favourite for the vacant managerial job at Leicester City.
The Dutchman recently left his role as Manchester United assistant manager after four games in interim charge following Erik ten Hag’s sacking.
The 48-year-old, who led PSV Eindhoven to a Dutch Cup in his one and only season as a senior manager, has leapfrogged David Moyes and Graham Potter in the pecking order, according to Football Insider.
Van Nistelrooy’s sides have been strong in possession and aggressive in their defensive actions, something that Leicester lacked in their most recent match against Chelsea, which turned out to be previous manager Steve Cooper’s final game in charge of the Foxes. Cooper was sacked on Sunday with the Midlands outfit languishing in 16th place on ten points.
In his four games in interim charge of United, the former Red Devils forward managed three wins and a draw, with two of those victories coming against Leicester, a 5-2 win in the Carabao Cup followed up by a 3-0 win in the Premier League.
