Yahoo Sports Valerie Letourneau: The Midnight Call & Disgusting Hector Lombard Ban (UFC 193 Scrum Video)
Valerie Letourneau faces the biggest fight of her career when she challenges Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the strawweight championship in the UFC 193 co-main event in Melbourne, Australia.
In the hours winding down to fight time, she reminisced with the press about getting a midnight call notifying her that she was getting a shot at the belt, and how she immediately wanted to start training right then in the middle of the night.
Being a woman coming up in a ‘man's sport,' she recounted how naked guys would walk around in the locker room, thinking that they were a ‘waste of time,' as she focused on becoming one of the best fighters in the world.
One thing that could distract from her fight for the title, is the fact that one of her coaches, Hector Lombard, will not be allowed to be in her corner at the fight, which left her disgusted. Although disgusted, she seems to have taken the restriction in stride as she gets ready to step in the Octagon.
