Utica Comets Sign Matt Anderson To PTO

The Utica Comets have signed defenseman Matt Anderson to a professional try-out, it was announced Monday.

Anderson, a product of Shakpee, Minn., has spent the entire season to this point with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye. Through nine games, he has scored one goal and added three assists for four points.

Having turned pro at the end of the 2021-22 season, Anderson has played with the Walleye and the South Carolina Stingrays as well as in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies. Prior to making the jump to the pro level, Anderson played five seasons at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (NCAA).

Over his ECHL career thus far, Anderson has collected 21 goals and 47 assists for 68 points in 139 career regular season games. He has also added three assists in three AHL games.

As Anderson joins the Comets, he could have the opportunity to play a solid role with the team. As someone who has shown he can produce at the next level (albeit in a small sample size), Anderson could be a candidate to jump to the AHL full time in the future.
