USWNT beats Brazil for first Olympic gold since 2012: Social media reactions to medal
The United States women's soccer team are gold medalists once again.
The USWNT defeated Brazil 1-0 on Saturday at the 2024 Paris Olympics, earning its first gold medal since the 2012 London Olympics when it beat Japan in the final.

The match was tied at halftime until forward Mallory Swanson gave the United States a 1-0 lead with 57th-minute goal on an assist from midfielder Korbin Albert. The goal was Swanson's fourth of the tournament, which makes her tied-for-second among all goal scorers at the Olympics.
The gold medal match was also the United States' first appearance in the final since 2012, as the U.S. left the 2016 Rio Olympics empty-handed and won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

Ridiculously, incredulously, against truly all odds this stat still stands: the USWNT has never, in the history of women’s soccer, not followed a World Cup loss with an Olympic gold medal

Emma Hayes completely restored everything that made the US Women the gold standard in little more than 2 months. Remarkable coaching job. Great to see the USWNT back on the top step with so many exciting players.
