USADA Informs UFC Signee Abdul-Kerim Edilov of Potential Anti-Doping Violation
UFC signee Abdul-Kerim Edilov hasn't even set foot in the Octagon yet and he is already in hot water.
UFC officials on Tuesday released a statement revealing that the 24-year-old Russian light heavyweight has been informed by the United States Anti-Doping Agency of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition drug test.
Edilov is 16-4 and currently riding a 10-fight winning streak, but could be suspended before his first UFC bout. He was originally slated to debut against Francisco Barroso at UFC Fight Night 81: Dillashaw vs. Cruz in January, but had to withdraw from the fight due to a torn meniscus.
USADA, which administers the UFC Anti-Doping Program, did not reveal details of the potential violation.
UFC Statement on Abdul-Kerim Edilov:
The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Abdul-Kerim Edilov of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection.
USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.
