Upper Deck has "Renewed" Interest in 2024-25 Series One Hockey
Upper Deck Series One Hockey Flagship release days are like Christmas morning for hockey card collectors. There is a rush similar to the opening of presents as everyone rips pack after pack not knowing what to expect.
Some packs contain that awesome remote control car you've always wanted. Other packs have socks and underwear.
Spoiler alert; Upper Deck 2024-25 Series One Hockey's socks and underwear are the Gaming inserts. I'll let you know more about those later.
Upper Deck has found a way to combine holidays. An assortment of unannounced inserts, commonly called Easter Eggs, can be found in 2024-25 Series One packs.
All in all, Upper Deck 2024-25 Series Hockey does a great job at combining the expected with the unexpected.
Young Guns
Young Guns are the driving force of Upper Deck 2024-25 Series One Hockey. Cutter Gauthier, Logan Stankoven, Lane Hutson, Mavrik Bourque, and Matt Rempe anchor this edition of the Young Guns.
Of course, the Young Guns listed above are the main chasers. However, one of the most exciting things about each year's Young Guns class is the unknown. There can be a lot of hidden value in collecting the lower value Young Guns in this year's class in hopes of them catching on with an NHL club down the line.
Young Guns Renewed
Upper Deck's Young Guns Renewed insert set was met by a range of emotions. In one corner, many collectors enjoy the excitement of pulling an Alex Ovechkin or Sidney Crosby Young Guns Renewed insert. In the other corner, some collectors feel the Young Guns Renewed set lessens the value of the original Young Guns cards.
I feel the Young Guns Renewed inserts drive excitement to Upper Deck 2024-25 Series One Hockey. It is pretty cool and a ton of fun pulling newer versions of Ovechkin and Crosby Young Guns cards.
Retro Outburst Young Guns
There are four players featured in the Retro Outburst Young Guns set; Connor McDavid, Sergei Bobrovsky, Tim Stutzle, and Patrice Bergeron.
Young Guns Outbursts were not around when these player's Young Guns cards debuted which makes the Retro Outburst Young Guns a must have.
Easter Eggs
Massive stick-taps to Upper Deck increasing excitement in 2024-25 Series One Hockey with some unannounced Easter Eggs. Easter Eggs are rare cards not found on the checklist that are found one out of thousands of packs.
Crossed Up, Snow Spray Autos, and Retro Outburst Young Guns headline the rare Easter Eggs that can be found in 2024-25 Upper Deck Series One Hockey.
Gaming Inserts
Gaming inserts are the equivalent to opening presents on Christmas morning containing socks and underwear. At least socks and underwear are essentials in life, the hockey card collecting community can live without the Gaming Co-Op, FOV, PVP, and XP inserts.
Final Verdict
It is about time we can shift our mindset away from Connor Bedard in a hockey product. Yes, Bedard has an assortment of hits available in Upper Deck 2024-25 Series One Hockey. But Bedard does not crack the top-10 list of players that collectors are looking for.
Upper Deck did a great job of renewing our interest in Flagship. It is not that collectors became uninterested in Flagship by any means. Upper Deck needed 2024-25 Series One Hockey to be intriguing to experienced hockey card collectors, and those who are hanging around after the Bedard chase.
A solid rookie class paired with Upper Decks creativity with Young Guns renewed and Easter Eggs makes 2024-25 Series One a joy to rip.
Happy hunting and collecting!
