Manchester United are among a host of Premier League clubs to have been offered the chance to sign ex-Aston Villa hero Douglas Luiz, per Mail Sport.

The midfielder departed Villa Park last June in a £42.5 million move to Juventus, with the board reluctantly sanctioning his exit to comply with the Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Prior to his Serie A switch, Luiz notched nine goals and five assists in 2023/2024 to aid the Villans’ emphatic Champions League-qualifying campaign – but departed before he was able to represent the club in Europe’s elite competition.

Alan Shearer previously hailed the playmaking maestro for the influential role he played in Unai Emery’s resurgent side, saying: “Aston Villa keep going from strength to strength under Emery, and one player who has typified their incredible start to the season is Douglas Luiz.

“The Brazilian midfielder produced another outstanding display in midfield against West Ham United on Sunday as his brace helped Villa to an impressive 4-1 win. Two goals in a dominant display. He really led his team well. He’s been laying the foundations for Villa’s success this season.”

Unfortunately for the Brazil international, his career has turned somewhat stagnant in Turin, as he has made only three league starts with a further nine appearances coming off the bench – while also missing eight matches through a muscle injury.

Now, with all parties seemingly resigned to the fact that things hadn’t worked out as initially hoped, Juventus are willing to offload Luiz after only seven months at the Allianz Stadium.

They’ve gone as far as to contact English clubs to gauge whether any would be interested in taking the 26-year-old on either a loan or permanent deal, with United one of several Premier League outfits to be ‘offered’ Luiz, along with Fulham and Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea and Manchester City are said to be considering moves for the player, though the former are reluctant to fork out any money if an obligation to buy was included in any prospective agreement.
