Umpire Jeff Nelson tackles unruly fan during wild game in Oakland
The umpires struck back in Oakland.
Veteran umpire Jeff Nelson decided to take matters into his own hands during a wild game at the Oakland Coliseum, tackling an unruly fan who tempted fate by running onto the field during the Blue Jays-Oakland Athletics game.
Nelson took the fan to the ground behind second base just as ballpark security arrived on the scene.
This was the second fan to interrupt play during Toronto’s 10-1 victory, and it was clear Nelson and his crew had seen enough.
A few innings earlier, a fan ran on the field and attempted to steal the hat from A’s right fielder Stephen Piscotty. That fan then attempted to jump back into the stands, but was rejected by other fans in the ballpark.

He managed to swipe a security guard’s hat but was quickly detained.
There are some theories as to why the fans may have forgotten how to behave during Saturday’s game. We’re sure you can put 4 + 2 + 0 together.
