A new year of MMA is upon us after the calendar rolled over to 2025, and with that comes a fresh slate of hope and optimism about what the sport could bring.

UFC reporter Megan Olivi gets to view things from up close given her role with the company, and there's a list of things she would like to see unfold over the coming year.

Olivi spoke to MMA Junkie about her top five wishes for the UFC in 2025, and they range from traveling to a new destination, adding a new weight class and much more.

5. UFC Spain

"I would like for 2025 to see UFC Spain. Ilia Topuria, let's go. Headline a card in Spain. The fans would obviously love it. It's a new destination for us. We all travel so much for these events, but I think Spain is a country that all of us could get behind going to."

4. Four-man, one-night tournament

"It might be a little controversial because we don't do this, but I would love to see a one-night tournament. I've thought about the BMF title, because that's been thrown out there. I love the idea. I've seen someone talk about the flyweights because there are so many people neck-and-neck right now in the division to have another shot, or their first shot at (Alexandre) Pantoja. I thought that could be really fun. I just think it would be interesting. I know we don't do it, so it's kind of a pipe dream, but I think it would be so interesting to cover having multiple fights in a single night."

3. Rightful challengers get UFC title shots

"I have some challengers I want to see against the champ. I want to see Kayla Harrison (at women's bantamweight), Tatiana Suarez (who I hope makes her strawweight title fight vs. Zhang Weili at UFC 312) and Khamzat Chimaev (at middleweight) all get opportunities to fight for the title against whoever the champion might be whenever they might get their chance in 2025."

2. Introduction of atomweight division

"I don't think it would start in the UFC right away. I think it would have to start at something like Road to UFC or Contender Series, but I love the idea of bringing atomweight in, women's atomweight. I think it would provide (a platform) to a lot of the women we see in Invicta and a lot of other female athletes from different walks of life to come in or have something to continue to train for. I don't think we're going to make a roster spot for it yet, a full weight class in the UFC, but I would love to see us start building some of these fights up and start garnering (attention). Maybe it's on 'The Ultimate Fighter,' and we get an atomweight season, but I love the idea of expanding the women's divisions and expanding them into a division we know is very athletic and is very exciting and very entertaining."

1. Recognition for UFC production team

"I think our production team is the best in the business. I think that they work harder than anyone could possibly imagine. They're not just doing UFC fights, they're doing Contender Series and (Power) Slap and everything else that falls under the umbrella, and I think we're what people look too when they want to be innovative, when they want to see how to do an eight-hour live broadcast better than anyone in the world. So I would love to see UFC production win all the awards, all of the EMMYs, all the awards that can be given out. They deserve them. Guys like Zach Candito and Michael La Plante and our director Anthony Giordano. People don't understand the effort that goes into and how you're walking a tightrope for the entirety of that fight broadcast, to just get through it and make sure everything fires on all cylinders. To pull off something like the Sphere was otherworldly, to be honest with you, and I don't think anyone else could've done it as well as we did in the timeline that we did it, as well. My hope is they can start getting the recognition they deserve because I get stopped by broadcasters in other sports all the time asking how we do it."
