Leon Edwards, who is coming off back-to-back impressive wins over Donald Cerrone and Gunnar Nelson, will meet former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in a five-round welterweight fight that will headline UFC on ESPN 4 in San Antonio on July 20.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the news to Yahoo Sports.

Ranked 11th at welterweight, Edwards is on a seven-fight winning streak, which he punctuated with decision wins over Cerrone on June 23, 2018, and Nelson on March 16. The bout will be the most significant of his career as he goes up against the third-ranked dos Anjos.

Dos Anjos is coming off an impressive fourth-round submission of Kevin Lee on May 18 that snapped a two-fight losing streak. He entered the bout with Lee having lost back-to-back bouts to Colby Covington on June 9, 2018, for the interim welterweight title and to Kamaru Usman on Nov. 30.

The UFC had wanted to move a light heavyweight bout between ex-middleweight champion Luke Rockhold and Jan Blachowicz from the main card of UFC 239 in Las Vegas on July 6 and make it the main event for San Antonio. However, Rockhold previously committed to filming a Ralph Lauren Polo commercial on July 20 and that could not be moved.

As a result, the UFC opted to make the dos-Anjos-Edwards fight.

Also on that card will be a heavyweight grudge match between ex-NFL player Greg Hardy and Juan Adams. Adams has been blasting Hardy on social media and demanded a fight between them.
