UFC Fight Night 61 Fighter Bonuses: Superman Knockout Scores $50,000

Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir not only avoided a career-threating loss at UFC Fight Night 61 in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on Sunday; he also secured one of the Performance of the Night bonuses.

The UFC issued no Fight of the Night bonus, but instead handed out four $50,000 individual bonuses.

Mir scored a bonus for his knockout of Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in the night’s headlining bout. Mir had been on a four-fight losing skid dating back to December of 2011, but his 100-second knockout of Bigfoot rekindled his career.

Not surprisingly, Matt Dwyer was one of the other Performance of the Night winners for his superman-punch knockout of William Macario.

Joining Mir and Dwyer in going home with an additional $50,000, were Sam Alvey and Marion Reneau.

Alvey barely seemed to be in the fight with Cezar Ferreira, until he dropped “Mutante” at the 3:34 mark of the opening round, laying him out cold. Reneau was awarded $50,000 for her first-round triangle choke submission of Jessica Andrade.
