UFC Fight Night 226 results: Ciryl Gane patiently demolishes Serghei Spivac with diverse flurry for TKO

Ciryl Gane has a knack for success at home.

In his second promotional headliner in Paris, Gane (12-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) made it two-for-two when he patiently demolished Serghei Spivac (16-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) for a TKO stoppage at 3:44 of Round 2.

The heavyweight contest served as the main event of UFC Fight Night 226 at Accor Arena and aired live on ESPN+.

From the opening bell, Gane was patient yet effective. The damage quickly took its toll on Spivac, who outside of a few single-punch combinations did not find success in the bout. Gane stuffed an early takedown attempt, perhaps recharging his confidence after a quick and disappointing grappling showing in his March loss vs. Jon Jones at UFC 285.

In Round 2, Gane poured on a more aggressive attack as Spivac backed into the cage and turtled. Spivac absorbed all sorts of strikes until referee Marc Goddard had seen enough and dove in.

After the victory, Gane, who won the UFC’s Paris debut event headliner vs. Tai Tuivasa in 2022, voiced his pride in the region as a whole and the success of his countrymen on Saturday’s card. When asked about a potential matchup with Tom Aspinall, who was cageside, Gane said he welcomes all comers that will get him back toward title gold.

In victory, Gane moves to 2-2 in his most recent four. In defeat, Spivac has a three-fight winning streak snapped.
