UFC 193 Weigh-in Results: Respect Gone, Rousey and Holm Explode!

UFC 193 Results: Holly Holm Shocks the World, Knocks Out Ronda Rousey

UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm is expected to be the most heavily attended event in UFC history. The promotion's top star, Ronda Rousey, puts her bantamweight belt on the line against former world-champion boxer Holly Holm in the main event, while strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk defends her title against Valerie Letourneau in the co-main event, which takes place on Sunday in Melbourne, Australia (Saturday in the U.S. due to the time difference).

Of course, all of the fighters on the card first had to step on the scale at Etihad Stadium to make their bouts official.

There have questions swirling about the mounting pressure around Rousey, as her star ascends higher and higher into the ether, but she showed no signs of cracking as she easily made weight for her 135-pound title fight. Likewise, Holm had no problems on the scale either.

Although they seemed have strong respect for one another up until the weigh-in, there was a meltdown when the two went nose-to-nose after stepping off the scale.

Holm put her fist in Rousey's face and the champ game unglued. They started pushing and shoving, as UFC president Dana White stepped in to keep them apart, as Rousey barked at Holm.

After things settled down, Holm told UFC broadcaster Joe Rogan, “I am here to shock the world. I know I have my hands full with Ronda. She's run through everybody, but I'm a different fighter.”

Though she had regained her composure, Rousey was still on fire, saying about the fireworks, “I just wanted to get in her face and show her that I was there for a reason. She's the one that put the fist on my face. I didn't touch her. She's the one that touched me. That fake sweet act, I see right through it. It was all fake. All that respect. I see right now that it's fake and you're gonna get it on Sunday. I'm gonna show you on Sunday why I'm the champ.”

Neither of the co-main event fighters had an issue making weight, either, although Jedrzeczyk and Letourneau exchanged some heated words as they faced off for photographers.

Letourneau knows the importance of this title fight, saying, “This is the most important fight of my life, for me, my daughter, for everybody who has been helping me in my career.”

But Jedrzejczyk, a heavy favorite, carried an entirely different air of confidence about her, saying that she told Letourneau, “Your lucky day was yesterday. Today and tomorrow are gonna be my lucky day, cause I'm the best. That is all.”
