U-turn for Priske at Feyenoord: boss “will not be fired for the time being”

Brian Priske will not be fired from his role as Feyenoord head coach for the time being, as per reports from the Volkskrant on Thursday.

In a complete u-turn from previous reports that claimed the Dane would soon be sent packing at Feyenoord, the Rotterdam club’s 3-0 Champions League victory against Bayern Munich seems to have saved the manager’s job.

Before the match against the Bavarians, it became clear that Feyenoord intended to fire Priske. This was partly due to the disappointing results in the Eredivisie and the friction that had arisen among the technical and playing staff.

Now, however, the Volkskrant says otherwise. Some seventeen hours after the final whistle in De Kuip, the outlet reported that ‘Priske will not be fired for the time being’. No further details or information has been provided and it is therefore unclear what Feyenoord are planning to do now and just how long Priske will be allowed to stay.

Priske was appointed at Feyenoord six months ago as Arne Slot’s successor. However, with a deficit of ten points standing between leaders PSV and nine points between Ajax, fourth-placed Feyenoord’s Champions League dream for next season looks unlikely.
