Het Nieuwsblad have reported that Vincent Tan has injected €10m into Kortrijk. The Cardiff City owner had been looking to sell the club over the past year, but now appears to have changed his mind and will back the club. This will certainly be somewhat of a relief to Kortrijk fans after a turblent 2023 summer which saw the side waiting on new ownership to sign players and a new head coach. When the farcical Kaminski Group offer fell through, the club had to scramble to put a team together for the 2023/2024 season. Thankfully they managed to avoid relegation via the play-offs, but hopes are for a better summer.

It appears that the work of head coach Freyr Alexandersson seems to have persuaded Tan to remain involved in the club and financially support them. The Icelandic head coach showed that he is capable of working with limited resources last season, and while the investment is welcome it does not mean he will suddenly have a large war chest to work with. However, it gives the side some wriggle room to bring in new players to help avoid a repeat of last season. If they are able to finish mid-table, expect to see Alexandersson linked with a number of clubs after saving the side from certain relegation last season.
