Real Madrid will take on Brest tonight, in what will be their final game in the UCL league phase.

With just four wins in three matches, the likelihoods of Real Madrid’s qualifying directly for the Round of 16 are very low, meaning the reigning champions will have to go through the knockout playoffs.

Speaking of which, there are a couple of Real Madrid players who must proceed with caution as Los Blancos take on Brest tonight.

Modric, Endrick at risk of suspension

The two players in question are Luka Modric and Endrick. Both the players are running the risk of missing the next UCL game if they pick up a yellow card against Brest.

That is because both players have picked up two bookings each in the Champions League this season and are, therefore, only a booking away from suspension.

While Endrick has played a bit-part role in the Real Madrid first-team this season, the Brazilian is coming on the back of a stellar performance against RB Salzburg.

Real Madrid, therefore, will be hopeful about the youngster continuing that momentum in the near future. His suspension in the first leg of the knockout playoffs, to that end, could be a blow.

As for Modric, the veteran is equally important in the middle of the park. Although Modric has not been a first-team regular at Real Madrid this season, his presence is key when it comes to rotating the squad.

Modric, therefore, cannot afford to pick up a booking tonight, knowing coach Carlo Ancelotti might opt for a rotation in midfield in the first leg of the knockout playoffs.
