The January transfer window is not far away but there might not be much activity during the mid-season trading period at Barcelona given how things are going under Hansi Flick so far.

However, Barcelona director Deco is still facing a busy period as he continues to work towards building the squad with an eye on the future.

While plans are already underway for the summer window, SPORT reports that the former Portuguese international has set two main objectives for himself to achieve in the next few weeks.

Dani Olmo and Pau Victor’s registrations

The first chief objective on the agenda for Deco in the weeks to come is to ensure the successful registration of Barcelona’s two summer signings – Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

Barça, struggling with FFP issues, used the injuries of Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo to register Olmo and Victor in the summer but those are only valid until December 31.

Even though the Nike deal is all but finalised, it is not enough for Barcelona to return to the 1-1 rule and register the duo and they would need another €50 million cash injection for the same.

But there is complete confidence from the players’ side as well as the club that their registration will be carried out without any problems as Joan Laporta is himself working on closing the Barça Vision deal with new investors.

Renew Pedri and Gavi

Apart from the registrations, the next major objective for Deco is to secure the future of Barça’s Golden duo Pedri and Gavi by extending their contracts.

Both the midfielders’ current deals run out in 2026 and talks are already underway with their respective camps to renew at least until 2029, with the club hoping to close the operations before the end of the year.

There are others such as Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, and Inaki Pena, whose contracts also expire in 2026 and need attention, but the priority at this point is to tie down Pedri and Gavi as soon as possible.
