Two Fiorentina defenders to leave in January: ‘A closed chapter’
Cristiano Biraghi and Fabiano Parisi are both set to leave Fiorentina next January after struggling to find playing time under coach Raffaele Palladino, as their agent Mario Giuffrida confirmed.
A club veteran and Viola’s captain since the 2021-2022 season under coach Vincenzo Italiano, Biraghi has fallen out of favour at the Stadio Artemio Franchi as he hasn’t started in any of his side’s eight consecutive Serie A wins that propelled them into the top four.
Fiorentina a ‘closed chapter’ for Biraghi and Parisi, agent says
Speaking during his press conference before Fiorentina’s Conference League home game against LASK, manager Raffaele Palladino announced Biraghi would be excluded from the squad due to a ‘technical choice’, adding that the left full-back ‘wasn’t used to not playing regularly’.
Parisi was considered the former Inter player’s back-up at the beginning of the season, but he played even less as Robin Gosens became one of Palladino’s irreplaceable players, hindering their opportunities to get playing time.
Mario Giuffrida, agent of both players, explained in an interview that he’ll ‘answer Palladino in due time’ but that the pair ‘will leave’ in January.
“We definitely have something, but both players will leave,” he told Firenze Viola, as reported by TMW.
“I don’t know yet if it will be permanent, but Florence is a closed chapter for them.
“For sure, I’ll just say that if they go, then I’ll answer Palladino in due time, so we’ll see how many balls he has.”
