Two Chelsea transfer deals are “linked” says insider who explains January plans
We’ve waited a while for this, and now we have our chance.
Matt Law is back on the London is Blue podcast for one of his regular updates about Chelsea’s transfer situation.
He had a lot of really interesting information about the rumours surrounding bids for Marc Guehi, and gave an outline of how they had come about, and what Chelsea might have to do to get a deal done.
You can see the insider speaking in the clip embedded here:
🚨 @Matt_Law_DT confirms CFC have asked Palace for Guehi's valuation, but says any move 'is a long way off.' Any deal will also be linked to Trev Chalobah's willingness to sign for Palace permanently, which Chalobah might be reluctant to do in Jan.

Chelsea and Palace could lock in two separate but connected deals
“Chelsea have a list of centre backs that Marc Guehi is on. And they’ve asked Palace for a valuation on Marc Guehi which is kind of why it all blew up this week. But I’m told it hasn’t actually moved past that yet. That’s not to say it won’t. I find it interesting that this happened around the same time that the noises of the Trevoh recalled. I think those two are intrinsically linked,” Law explained.
“I am told it’s very unlikely Chelsea would or could do Guehi this month without either outgoings or doing something in the opposite direction. Even if Chelsea wanted to try to do some sort of deal whereby they sold Chalobah to Palace permanently in January and that helped them buy Guehi… because they tend to do these things in separate deals. If you look at [Gallagher and] Felix, Kellyman and Maatsen,” the Telegraph writer said of the structure of the deal.
But he also had a warning for any fans getting excited about an agreement between the clubs to move Guehi one way and Chalobah the other:
“I wouldn’t necessarily assume that Chalobah would want to go to Palace permanently in January either. It might happen, but it’s a long way from being anywhere near there at the moment.”
