Two Barracuda Players Named To AHL All-Star Game

San Jose Sharks top goalie prospect Yaroslav Askarov and veteran forward Andrew Poturalski have been named AHL All-Stars for the San Jose Barracuda.

The Coachella Valley Firebirds will host this year's festivities. Poturalski played for the Firebirds the previous two seasons and has consistently been one of the best players in the AHL. Last season, he had 10 points (two goals, eight assists) and a plus-six rating in 13 Calder Cup Playoffs. He helped the Firebirds reach the finals for the second consecutive year.

For the Barracuda this season, Poturalski has 33 points (13 goals, 20 assists) in 32 games. His 33 points rank third in the entire AHL.

San Jose Sharks goalie Yaroslav Askarov is headed to his second straight All-Star game and first as a member of the Barracuda. Askarov was also an All-Star last season for the Milwaukee Admirals.

With the 'Cuda this season, Askarov is 9-4-1, with a 2.00 goals-against average, a .938 save percentage, and three shutouts. He ranks first in the AHL in save percentage, tied for second in shutouts, and is fifth in goals-against average.

Askarov is in the NHL and has played well, winning his previous two games against the Tampa Bay Lightning and New Jersey Devils.

Former San Jose Sharks goalie Devin Cooley and former skater Jacob MacDonald were also named All-Stars. The AHL All-Star game and festivities will take place Feb. 2-3.
