How two Barcelona stars’ futures hinge on one another this month

The futures of two members of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona hinge heavily on the movements of one another during the January transfer window.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Eric García and Ronald Araújo as the pair in question.

Stoppers Eric and Araújo have of course both seen their names positioned front and centre in the media chatter in Catalunya’s capital over the last week.

This comes amid mounting speculation surrounding their respective futures, owing to all of the competition for places in Hansi Flick’s squad, the need for fresh funds at Barcelona, and mounting interest in the services of both players.

In turn, it will no doubt come as a source of interest to hear that, in all likelihood, only one will be granted a departure this month.

As per a report from Sport:

‘If the Uruguayan leaves, the Catalan stays; if Araujo stays in the squad, Eric will likely leave the club to find accommodation at another club that gives him more minutes.’
