Barcelona Athletic announced three new signings for the team recently – Iván Cédric, David Oduro and Abdul Aziz. Continuing with the trend of signing players with high potential for the academy, the quarry team made these smart additions.

Oduro and Aziz are the first Ghanaians in the history of the game to play for Barcelona. Upon his arrival, the former even gave an interview on his dream with the club and who his role model for the left-back position was.

However, as per SPORT, it has now emerged that only Ivan Cedric will get a chance to make a debut for the reserve side immediately. It could be a while before Barcelona fans get to see Oduro and Aziz in action.

However, this isn’t a problem that is new to Barcelona. The club has been facing this issue ever since they chose to tap into the African market with Mikayil Faye and Mamadou Mbacke’s signings. This means that they know how to handle it.

Both the African talents will still have to wait a few weeks to receive the necessary permits to be able to play in the Primera RFEF. It is a matter of time and the duo need to focus on adaptation to ensure they are ready when the opportunity arrives.

It is good to see the club strengthen its scouting net in the African market. Mikayil Faye already proved how big a talent he is but the club unfortunately had to sell him this summer. One would hope that is not the case with Oduro and Aziz.

Patience is the order of the day as of this moment. Adapting to Spain coming from Africa could take some time. That said, what the players get is the opportunity to train in one of the world’s best facilities.

No academy in the world provides a better path to the first-team and better all-round development than La Masia. Aziz and Oduro are in the best place possible to continue their development and let’s hope they can make the best use out of it.
