TV channel, game details set for South Carolina’s Oct. 12 road trip to face Alabama
A day after Alabama leapt to No. 1 in the most-recent Associated Press Top 25, the Crimson Tide’s game against South Carolina on Oct. 12 has a TV network.
The game will kickoff at noon Eastern inside Bryant-Denny Stadium and air on ABC. The kickoff time was set in the preseason, with the matchup waiting on a TV designation that was set Monday.
It will likely mark the third-straight season that South Carolina (3-1, 1-1 SEC) has faced off against the top team in the nation. The Gamecocks played No. 1 Georgia in 2022 and 2023.
The Crimson Tide (4-0, 1-0 SEC) has arguably the best win in college football this season after knocking off Georgia on Saturday, and it seems unlikely Alabama will lose its No. 1 ranking this week considering it plays against Vanderbilt.
South Carolina doesn’t have quite the same tune-up. Before South Carolina travels to Tuscaloosa for the first time since 2009, it’ll face No. 12 Ole Miss this Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium.
The Gamecocks are just 3-13 against Alabama all time, which isn’t great. But, it was just 14 years since they last faced a ranked Tide team, when Stephen Garcia, Marcus Lattimore and the Gamcocks pulled one of the biggest shockers in school history.
Like that game, the Oct. 12 matchup will all be played during the day — which is somewhat of a trend for the Gamecocks this season. South Carolina will only play one SEC night game (Nov. 2 vs. Texas A&M) and will play three SEC games at 1 p.m. Eastern or earlier.
