Tuttosport: Scudetto dream to top four fight – Milan on the ‘precipice’ as train could run away

The international break never seems to bring good news for AC Milan, and there is once again an air of doubt surrounding the team at present.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) write this morning, it has been a start to the season that has definitely not lived up to expectations for Milan. There are five teams within two points of each other at the top of the Serie A table, and yet the Rossoneri are on the outside looking in.

Perhaps with a bit more consistency – which is achieved through organisation and attentiveness – Milan could have cut out some of the errors that led to bed results. The defensive department are under fire after 20 goals conceded in 15 games (all competitions) – too high to challenge for anything.

Instead of being able to build from launching points such as the derby, what has arisen is situations like in the last few days. A 3-1 win against the European champions Real Madrid at the Bernabeu was followed by a 3-3 draw at struggling Cagliari, perfectly summarising the rollercoaster trend.

Now, Rafael Leao and co. are being forced to chase not just the top spots in Serie A but even the Champions League places, which at this rate risk even moving away without any possibility of being able to recover.

Tuttosport state that Milan are on the ‘precipice’ when it comes to the top four battle, referring to the fact that fourth place is seven points away. It would become four if the Diavolo were to win the game in hand away at Bologna, but that is far from guaranteed.
