Tuttosport: ‘San Siro or San Donato?’ – the current state of Milan’s stadium plans
Many fans have understandably been left confused about AC Milan’s stadium project and above all where they intend to build, but more information has emerged.
Tuttosport (via MilanNews) asks the question this morning: ‘San Siro or San Donato?’. The Milan ownership considers both paths open, with one being the construction of a joint facility with Inter near the current ground, and the other is a new Milan-only home in San Donato.
San Siro is of interest but the Rossoneri are not abandoning the San Donato hypothesis, so much so that yesterday the club president Paolo Scaroni had a meeting with the San Donato Mayor Francesco Squeri, who in recent days asked for a meeting to establish some clarity.
In fact, San Donato remains the main road, even now that the possibility of a shared facility at San Siro has reopened, and Scaroni reiterated this yesterday to the mayor during the conversation that they had.
Why are Milan keeping two ideas alive? First of all because the club have already invested €55m for the land in San Donato, while the Program Agreement process has also already been started.
In addition to that, Milan can not forget what happened with the first attempt (2019) to build a new stadium next to San Siro. There were delays, obstacles, constraints, protests and long time scales mentioned, something that they want to avoid this time to take it seriously.
