Tuttosport: Ibrahimovic takes inspiration from Mourinho with ‘Milanello blackout’

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s role at AC Milan has given him the freedom to implement ideas across several areas of the club, and today, a report has shone some light on one of his recent decisions, drawing similarities to one of his former tutors.

You could argue that the most important part of a football club is the training. Whilst the 90 minutes on the pitch at the weekend are the be-all and end-all, the result would often not be possible without the work on the training ground.

Reports have suggested that there has been a heavy shift in training sessions in recent weeks, with Milan returning to double training shifts, but there have also been changes outside of the training itself.

As was reported yesterday, there are now screens around Milanello to prevent the view of the training pitches, which has been done for several reasons, but Ibrahimovic was reported to be the brains behind the decision.

This morning, Tuttosport (via Milan News) confirmed this, stating that the Swede, in agreement with the rest of the club, opted to build blockades around the pitches to block the view from outsiders. Under Jose Mourinho in the 2008-09 season, the same was done at Appiano Gentile, which was a successful season for Inter as they won the Serie A.

It remains to be seen what effect this will have on the players, but to see the minimalistic things like this being considered is very positive and bodes well for the club.
