Tuttosport: Fonseca pondering three changes ahead of trip to Fiorentina
AC Milan do not have time to dwell on their Champions League defeat against Bayer Leverkusen because they are back in action on Sunday against Fiorentina in the final game before the international break.
As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning, the fact that Alvaro Morata was not at 100% meant Paulo Fonseca decided not to field two strikers, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek instead playing behind Tammy Abraham. For the game in Florence, however, that is expected to change.
It is very likely that Morata will return to the starting lineup against La Viola and will play alongside Abraham in that familiar 4-4-2/4-2-4 which did so well in the derby and against Lecce, with Christian Pulisic on the right and Rafael Leao on the left.
The rebirth of the Rossoneri after the disappointing start to the season also came thanks to Fonseca’s choice to field the two centre-forwards at the same time, and the game against Fiorentina is another one in which a bounce-back is needed.
Morata’s return to the starting line-up may not be the only new development, however, as the trip to Germany has shown that Emerson Royal and Fikayo Tomori were not once again impeccable, so Davide Calabria and Strahinja Pavlovic could come in as well.
Theo Hernandez and Matteo Gabbia should keep their spot, with the latter conquering a starting role thanks to solid performances.
