In north London, Tottenham look to have failed with a bid for Nicolo Zaniolo but Destiny Udogie is set for a medical. Player sales are now key for Antonio Conte. Stay tuned with Standard Sport for all the latest transfer market updates!

Abraham left Stamford Bridge for Italy last summer in a deal worth £38million, and has been a revelation for Jose Mourinho's Roma by scoring 17 goals - the most of any English player in a single Serie A season.
Chelsea, along with Manchester United, are now looking for forward options and Ally McCoist has tipped Abraham to be the solution for either club.

According to ESPN, the free transfer duo both agreed the option to rip up their contracts if the club failed to register them for LaLiga this month.
Barcelona have so far been unable to register any new signings due to a disagreement with LaLiga over the value of the ‘levers’ deployed, aka assets such as TV rights sold to private companies.
It is thought both Kessie and Christensen do not want to end their Barcelona stay so early even though both stand to miss the weekend’s LaLiga opener versus Rayo Vallecano.

How Arsenal tried to keep Aubameyang
Wednesday 10 August 2022 15:03 , Marc Mayo
Arsenal technical director Edu and the club’s executive team were initially pushing for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to be reintegrated into the squad before terminating his contract in January.
Aubameyang was stripped of the captaincy in December, following a latest disciplinary breach, and he mutually terminated his contract to join Barcelona the following month.
Aubameyang was dropped and forced to train alone, but new footage from Amazon Prime Video’s fly-on-the-wall documentary, All or Nothing: Arsenal, has revealed how Edu initially pushed for him to return to the squad.
“We have to talk to Aubameyang and to Mikel [Arteta]… he has to come back to the squad and help us until the end of the season,” Edu said in a meeting with director of football operations Richard Garlick and chief executive Vinai Venkatesham.
“We are going to have to reintegrate him, we have to,” said Venkatesham.

Wednesday 10 August 2022 14:11 , Marc Mayo
The ball will soon be in Frenkie de Jong’s court over his future.
Sport now also report on a fee nearly being agreed between Barcelona and Chelsea over his future.
The transfer would top £67million after add-ons but De Jong has long stated his preference of remaining at the Camp Nou.

Major Pino bid expected
Tuesday 9 August 2022 19:25 , Marc Mayo
Villarreal fear history will repeat itself if Arsenal bid for Yeremy Pino.
The Spanish international winger, 19, is a target for the Gunners and Liverpool, according to AS.
A bid of between £33million and £42m is expected from at least one club and it is claimed that Villarreal would have to cash in on the player if such an offer arrives.
The Yellow Submarine did so in the past, namely with Santi Cazorla, and even tried to sell Pau Torres to Tottenham last summer.
Arsenal discover Tonali price
Tuesday 9 August 2022 19:11 , Marc Mayo
Arsenal and AC Milan are in talks over Sandro Tonali.
A fee of £46.5m may be enough to tempt the Italian champions into selling one of their star midfielders, as reported by Calcio Mercato.
Such a deal would allow Milan to make two signings of their own, it is claimed, making the notion more palatable given Tonali’s position in the side.

The Dutchman, son of legend Patrick, is available for £8m this summer.

Juventus lead Depay race
Tuesday 9 August 2022 18:07 , Marc Mayo
Tottenham will not sign Memphis Depay.
That is according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claims there have been no talks over the Barcelona man despite reports of £17m interest earlier in the summer.
Juventus are the favourites to land the Dutchman, once his Blaugrana contract has been terminated.

Zaniolo to Spurs latest
Tuesday 9 August 2022 16:55 , Marc Mayo
Roma do not want to sign Japhet Tanganga in a player-plus-cash deal for Nicolo Zaniolo.
Il Messaggero report on the Tottenham defender being offered in the £47million deal.
However, the Giallorossi would still like to sign Tanganga on loan, presumably so they can maximise their cash takings for Zaniolo.
Barcelona confident player sales are not essential
Tuesday 9 August 2022 16:32 , Marc Mayo
Barcelona are confident they do not need to sell more players in order to register their summer signings.
LaLiga and the Blaugrana are currently in a dispute over the value of the ‘levers’ deployed by the club to bring in the likes of Robert Lewandowski, by selling assets such as future TV rights.
Marca report on player sells, including the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, not being necessary to ensure the registrations are allowed.
However, transfers out of Barcelona are still on the agenda to give the club much-needed breathing room on their balance sheets.
Chelsea targets could become available
Tuesday 9 August 2022 16:08 , Marc Mayo
Inter Milan owner Steven Zhang wants to bring in around £65m from player sales in the final month of the market.
That means either Denzel Dumfries of Milan Skriniar leaving - both of whom have been linked to Chelsea.
According to Corriere dello Sport, coach Simone Inzaghi met Zhang yesterday and reiterated his desire to keep both defenders, leading to an ongoing debate at Inter.
Salah advice helped Wijnaldum move
Tuesday 9 August 2022 15:41 , Marc Mayo
New Roma signing Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed the advice that encouraged him to sign for Jose Mourinho’s side.
He told reporters: “I chose Roma because of the interest and the effort they made to bring me here. When I spoke players like Mo Salah and Kevin Strootman they all spoke well of Rome. [Achraf] Hakimi also spoke well of Rome to me.
“I knew Roma because I had played here at the Olimpico with Liverpool. I knew I was arriving at a club with a fantastic stadium. I asked for advice from those who could know more than me and everyone spoke well about it. It was important, I felt appreciated.”
That smile 😄

Chelsea eye move for England U19 star Edwards
Tuesday 9 August 2022 15:01 , George Flood
Chelsea could swoop for another of England’s Under-19 European Championship winners before the transfer deadline.
Last week, the Blues moved to sign the tournament’s standout player Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa in a deal that could rise to £20m with add-ons.
Now Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has confirmed their interest in defender Ronnie Edwards, who piqued their interest during trips to watch loanee Lucas Bergstrom.
“I’ve had conversations with people at Chelsea who are in the know and who would be involved in any decision-making,” Fry told Peterborough Today.
“They came to watch Lucas, but they were taken by Ronnie. They haven’t made a bid yet, but there are three weeks until the transfer window closes. They certainly like him.
“Virtually the entire Premier League know about Ronnie and it’s interesting to see members of his England Under 19 team attracting attention now.
Tottenham seal £20m Udogie deal
Tuesday 9 August 2022 14:12 , George Flood
Tottenham have now agreed a deal for Udinese defender Destiny Udogie.
Standard Sport understands that Spurs will pay £15m up front for the teenage left-back, a fee which could rise to £20m with add-ons.
Udogie is set to agree personal terms and undergo a medical in Italy, where he will remain for the 2022-23 Serie A campaign on loan back at Udinese. There are no plans to bring him to their Hotspur Way base in order to conclude a deal.
The highly-rated Italian Under-21 international, 19, will become Tottenham’s seventh signing of a busy summer transfer window that has already seen Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence, Clement Lenglet and Fraser Forster arrive in north London.
Man United drop Arnautovic pursuit after fan backlash
Tuesday 9 August 2022 13:34 , George Flood
Manchester United’s pursuit of Marko Arnautovic is no more.
The Red Devils stunned fans and pundits alike at the weekend when news of their opening £7.6m bid for the former West Ham and Stoke forward, 33, first emerged.
That offer was rejected by Bologna, though reports have suggested that United will return to the Serie A outfit with a second approach.
However, The Athletic now claim that will not be happening after such a strong fan backlash against the move.
Done deal! Everton beat West Ham to Onana
Tuesday 9 August 2022 13:18 , George Flood

Chelsea could offload ELEVEN players by deadline
Tuesday 9 August 2022 12:40 , George Flood
And here’s Nizaar Kinsella’s latest update on how Chelsea are progressing in terms of exits to raise funds for further new signings...
Timo Werner is having his medical today after the paperwork was signed on a £25m return to RB Leipzig. Marcos Alonso has also agreed a two-year contract with Barcelona over an £8m move, with the west London side needing to generate funds after spending more than £165m on new players already in this window.
Callum Hudson-Odoi has loan interest from Borussia Dortmund and Southampton, with Hakim Ziyech, Ross Barkley, Billy Gilmour, Kenedy, Emerson Palmieri, Michy Batshuayi, Baba Rahman and Ethan Ampadu all potentially planning their exits.
Nottingham Forest have enquired about Emerson's availability after their £9m move for Real Betis left-back Alex Moreno collapsed. Meanwhile, Juventus are still interested in the Italy international depending on the status of their own full-back Alex Sandro.
Ampadu has a loan offer from Serie A side Empoli but the Blues won't sanction his exit until a major central defensive signing comes in.
De Jong and Dumfries to Chelsea update
Tuesday 9 August 2022 12:13 , George Flood
Staying with Chelsea for the moment, here’s more from Standard Sport’s Nizaar Kinsella on their ongoing transfer business, including the pursuits of Frenkie de Jong and Denzel Dumfries...
Chelsea are trying to offload fringe players to help raise funds for further business after being offered Frenkie de Jong, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay by Barcelona.
De Jong is in the middle of a bitter dispute with Barcelona over wages with £17m in deferred payments still owed to the midfielder.
Tuchel likes De Jong and is open to exploiting any issues to secure a quality player. It would see them hijack Manchester United’s approach after they’ve spent all summer failing to convince him to move to Old Trafford, due in part to a lack of Champions League football.
Barcelona are keen to see De Jong leave to raise further funds due to lingering financial issues but convincing the player to leave Camp Nou or accept lower terms remains difficult.
Chelsea are also interested in a right wing-back, with Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries the preferred option over Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters.
Chelsea prepare new Casadei bid
Tuesday 9 August 2022 11:40 , George Flood
Chelsea are preparing another approach for 19-year-old midfielder Cesare Casadei with Inter Milan now expected to accept a fee of around £12million, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The highly-rated box-to-box player has yet to make his senior professional debut but is regarded as one of the finest young talents at the San Siro.
Chelsea have heavily scouted the youngster, who they see as an initial academy signing that they can develop alongside their first team as part of a succession plan for N’Golo Kante and Jorginho, who will see their deals expire in June 2023.
They have had two offers under £10m turned down already and have resisted the option of including a buy-back clause in the deal.
Man United register Gakpo interest
Tuesday 9 August 2022 11:17 , George Flood
Another hour, another Manchester United transfer move.
As talks go on over Adrien Rabiot, ESPN now report that the Red Devils have registered their interest in signing PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo.
The Dutch winger would apparently be keen on a switch to Old Trafford and could be bought for a fee of around £35m.
Arsenal are among the other clubs to be linked with Gakpo this summer.
Chelsea plot third Fofana bid this week
Tuesday 9 August 2022 10:50 , George Flood
Chelsea are expected to make a third offer for Leicester’s Wesley Fofana this week despite seeing a £70million bid rejected as they raise funds for further signings, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The Blues believe that the 21-year-old is the last chance to sign a defender who matches both the quality and profile needed to take Thomas Tuchel’s side to the next level.
However, they are reluctant to make him the world’s most expensive central defender having seen the criticism faced by Manchester United’s Harry Maguire, who currently holds that title after costing £80m from Leicester in 2019.
Fofana is keen to force a move through but the Foxes are reluctant to lose their star defender so late in the transfer window with a replacement needed. They will continue to play Fofana and insist that he is not for sale until an exceptional offer comes in.
West Ham want three more as Kehrer talks begin
Tuesday 9 August 2022 10:25 , George Flood
West Ham are targeting at least three more signings before the end of the transfer window after holding initial talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a move for defender Thilo Kehrer, writes Malik Ouzia.
The Hammers have spent almost £100million on five signings so far this summer but manager David Moyes insisted last week that the club still have “an awful lot more business to do”.
Moyes has been pushing to sign a left-back and central midfield player all summer but has so far missed out on a number of targets, including Filip Kostic and Amadou Onana.
West Ham had agreed a fee with Lille for midfielder Onana but were unwilling to meet his wage demands and the 20-year-old is set to sign for Everton instead. Kostic, meanwhile, is reportedly close to joining Juventus, with the Irons having failed to convince the Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back to walk away from Champions League football.
West Ham remain keen to strengthen in both positions but an availability crisis in defence has also made a new centre-back an immediate priority.
Done deal! RB Leipzig beat Man United to Sesko
Tuesday 9 August 2022 10:15 , George Flood
The Benjamin Sesko saga has now at last been settled.
There has been a furious race to sign Red Bull Salzburg’s talented teenage striker this summer, with Manchester United pursuing his signature and Chelsea and Liverpool also said to be among the clubs interested.
However, it is RB Leipzig that have won the race, with Sesko set to remain at sister club Salzburg for the 2022-23 campaign before moving to the Bundesliga next year.
The Slovenian international will pen a five-year contract at Leipzig until 2028.

Arsenal pushing to seal Runarsson and Mari exits
Tuesday 9 August 2022 10:01 , George Flood
Arsenal are pushing to wrap up loan deals for Alex Runarsson and Pablo Mari after finalising the sale of Lucas Torreira to Galatasaray last night, writes Simon Collings.
Torreira has joined the Turkish side for an initial fee of £5m, but that could rise by around £1.5m more with add-ons.
The midfielder had one year left on his contract at Arsenal and the club were ready to cash in on him now as opposed to losing him for free in 12 months.
After securing an exit for Torreira, Arsenal are now working to resolve the futures of Mari and Runarsson.

Man United resume Milinkovic-Savic chase
Tuesday 9 August 2022 09:47 , George Flood
Adrien Rabiot and Frenkie de Jong are far from the only midfielders in Manchester United’s transfer sights it seems.
Reports suggest the club have now renewed their interest in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, a staple of constant rumours in every window.
The Telegraph claim that intermediaries believe a deal can now actually be completed, despite Lazio seemingly remaining steadfast in their refusal to sell their star Serbian, who is under contract until the summer of 2024.
Chelsea to learn Aubameyang fate this week
Tuesday 9 August 2022 09:24 , George Flood
The latest now on that rumoured Chelsea interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Last week came the shock speculation that the Blues were engaging in talks with the former Arsenal captain, with Thomas Tuchel eager for a surprise reunion with the player he previously coached at Borussia Dortmund.
It later emerged that Chelsea had actually been offered the chance to sign all three of Aubameyang, Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong by Barcelona.
Now The Telegraph report that Chelsea will find out this week if a deal can be done for Aubameyang, who only moved to the Camp Nou after having his Arsenal contract cancelled by mutual consent in January.
Man United negotiating Rabiot personal terms
Tuesday 9 August 2022 09:04 , George Flood
Where to start with Manchester United’s latest scattergun approach at the moment?
In case you missed it yesterday, the Red Devils have now agreed a deal with Juventus to sign Adrien Rabiot.
However, they were yet to discuss personal terms for the French midfielder, who is being allowed to leave Turin with just one year left on his current contract.
Fabrizio Romano reports that United are now in direct contact with Rabiot’s mother and agent Veronique, with manager Erik ten Hag also said to be part of the talks.
Werner in Leipzig ahead of Chelsea exit
Tuesday 9 August 2022 08:44 , George Flood
Timo Werner should complete his expected exit from Chelsea today.
The German striker was filmed and pictured arriving in Leipzig late last night as he puts the finishing touches on his return to the Bundesliga.
RB Leipzig will pay around £20m plus £5m in add-ons to sign back a player whom they sold for £47.5m in 2020.
The transfer is now set to be officially agreed, with Werner just needing to undergo and pass a medical.
After netting 90 goals in 156 appearances during his first stint in Leipzig, the 26-year-old scored only 23 times in 89 outings for Chelsea, falling out with manager Thomas Tuchel this summer over playing time and his role in the team.
Tottenham clinch Udogie deal
Tuesday 9 August 2022 08:16 , George Flood
Back to Spurs for a second, it seems their seventh deal of a busy summer transfer window is now complete.
Tottenham have been in talks for a little while now with Udinese over Italian Under-21 international left-back Destiny Udogie, a player personally recommended by manager Antonio Conte.
A deal worth more than £16.8m is now complete, per Fabrizio Romano, who confirms that the 19-year-old has also agreed personal terms over a move to north London.
However, Udogie will not arrive at Spurs until next summer as he is due to remain at Udinese on loan for the 2022-23 Serie A campaign.
Zaha keen on late Chelsea move
Tuesday 9 August 2022 07:55 , George Flood
Wilfried Zaha is said to be keen on a switch across London to Chelsea late in this transfer window.
As well as Wesley Fofana, the Blues are desperate for further reinforcements up front to join Raheem Sterling with Timo Werner poised to return to RB Leipzig in a £25.3m deal.
They are once again being linked with a swoop for Crystal Palace star Zaha, who has wanted to leave Selhurst Park again frequently in the past but never managed to secure a high-profile move having previously spent time at Manchester United.
football.london’s latest report claims that Zaha would be eager to join Chelsea, who would have to fork out a considerable fee having already spent over £150m this summer.
Arsenal and Liverpool battle for Pino
Tuesday 9 August 2022 07:48 , George Flood
Arsenal and Liverpool look poised to do battle over the signing of Yeremy Pino.
AS report that both Premier League giants are interested in the teenage winger, who has shone for Villarreal and already earned four senior international caps for Spain.
Villarreal do not want to lose Pino, but it is said that a large offer could leave them with a difficult decision to make as they seek to balance their summer transfer business amid the ongoing pursuit of Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso.
Pino’s current contract at El Madrigal, which runs until 2027, is believed to contain a release clause worth around £67.5m.
Tottenham table Zaniolo offer
Tuesday 9 August 2022 07:41 , George Flood
Tottenham are stepping up their pursuit of Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo.
The Italy star has emerged as the next focus of Fabio Paratici’s transfer ambition, though former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho wants him to stay put.
The Times report that Spurs have now made an opening gambit for Zaniolo, a season-long loan offer that included an obligation to buy next summer for a fee of £20m.
However, that bid was dismissed by Roma. Social media posts have since noted the arrival in Rome of Japhet Tanganga’s agent, could he be part of the next offer?
