Transfer fee, contract length, first reactions, squad number: Manchester City sign Savio from Troyes
Manchester City have officially announced the signing of Brazilian forward Savio from sister-club Troyes.
The 20-year-old, who spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan in La Liga with the City Football Group’s Girona, has completed a permanent move from fellow CFG side ES Troyes to Manchester City.
The forward has spent the past month competing for Brazil at the Copa America in the United States, where the South American heavyweights were dumped out of the competition after a penalty shoot-out defeat to Uruguay in the quarter-finals.
Savio was directly involved in 21 goals in 41 appearances for La Liga side Girona last season, scoring 10 goals and registering 11 assists for the Catalonian club across two competitions, and en route to a place in the UEFA Champions League for the forthcoming campaign.
The Brazilian moved to the City Football Group’s Troyes in 2022 from Atletico Mineiro but never made an appearance for the French side, moving to PSV Eindhoven prior to a season-long loan switch to Girona.
After Pep Guardiola’s side confirmed their first addition of the summer transfer window, here is everything you about the arrival of Savio at the Etihad Stadium.
What are the terms of Savio’s transfer from Troyes to Manchester City?
The 2004-born forward has moved to east Manchester on an initial five-year contract, with the transfer worth £43 million, according to journalist Paul Hirst.
Savio will remain at the Etihad Stadium for the 2024/25 season despite initial suggestions that the Brazilian international could be sent out on loan for the upcoming campaign.
