Manchester City have officially announced the signing of Egypt international forward, Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 25-year-old has been the more complex of Manchester City’s signings to complete this month to date, having held long-standing conversations with the Bundesliga club for well over three weeks, negotiating over the fee involved in the transfer.

While there had been a feeling in some areas of the club that a deal could be done at around the £45 million mark, the Premier League champions have come to terms with the additional spend that has been required to bring in one of Europe’s premier talents.

As for talks on the side of Marmoush himself and his representatives, those discussions moved at a comfortable pace and were concluded far in advance of the two clubs shaking hands on an agreement with Frankfurt standing firm on an €80 million valuation for most of the market.

This is by far and away Omar Marmoush’s biggest move of his professional career to date, making his debut at that level of the sport for Wadi Degla in the Egyptian Premier League back in July 2016 as a 17-year-old.

After just 16 appearances and two goals, the player was snapped up by VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga and made his debut for their senior squad in May 2020 against Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, before embarking on loans to St. Pauli and VfB Stuttgart.

While Marmoush would return to Wolfsburg and score his first goal for the club in July 2022, his talents were ensured by Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer in May 2023, while also handing the Egyptian star the number 7 shirt for the club.

The player’s time at Frankfurt has been nothing short of remarkable in front of goal in particular, with his tally since joining the club standing at 37 goals and 20 assists in just 67 appearances across competitions.

As such, it is no surprise to see that Manchester City have invested so heavily in the player’s talents and many of the support both in England and for the player in Egypt will be excited for his debut to come.
