Miami street reopens after crash kills 60-year-old pedestrian. Here’s what we know

A major Miami roadway connecting Interstate 95 to the Miami Beach area has been reopened after a traffic crash killed a 60-year-old pedestrian Tuesday morning, police said

A 911 call around 5:22 a.m. alerted first responders to the crash at Northeast 79th Street and Northeast First Avenue, Miami police spokesman Michael Vega told the Miami Herald.

The pedestrian, a man, died before paramedics were able to take him to the hospital, Vega said. The vehicle’s driver stayed on scene.

Northeast 79th Street was closed in both directions from North Miami Avenue to Northeast First Avenue, Miami police announced around 7 a.m. on X, formerly Twitter. Police have since then reopened the roadway.
