Trades Dominate First Week of WHL Season

Psst, the trade deadline isn't until January.

Around the WHL, teams are still putting finishing touches on their rosters and tinkering with lineups to make sure everything is as they want it. That has lead to a slew of trades and transactions during opening week, and while they may not be "high-profile" the number of them is certainly significant.

Sept. 16

-Brandon Wheat Kings trade Seth Tansem to the Wenatchee Wild for a 2027 6th round pick.

Sept. 17

-Vancouver Giants trade Matthew Edwards to the Spokane Chiefs for a 2025 5th round pick.

Sept. 18

-Spokane trades Lukas Kral to the Prince Albert Raiders for a 2025 7th round pick.
-Regina Pats' Zane Rowan clears CHL Waivers

Sept. 19

-Everett Silvertips trade Will Jamieson to the Calgary Hitmen for a 2025 7th round pick.
-Swift Current Broncos trade Connor Hvidston to the Calgary Hitmen for Connor Dale, a 2nd and 4th round pick in 2025, and a 2nd round pick in 2026.

Sept. 20

-Tri-City Americans' Camerin Cardona claimed by the Soo Greyhounds (OHL) from CHL Waivers.

Sept. 23

-Seattle Thunderbirds trade Caleb Potter to Swift Current for a conditional 8th round pick in 2026.

Sept. 24

-Edmonton Oil Kings acquire Rylan Roersma from Brandon for a 2026 2nd round pick and a 2027 5th round pick.
-Everett trades Cameron Sytsma to the Saskatoon Blades for a 2025 6th round pick.
-Calgary trades Alex Garrett to Everett for a 2026 5th round pick and a conditional 2028 6th round pick.

Sept. 25

-Kolby Hay and Matthew Gallant clear waivers.
-Giants' Damian Palmieri clears waivers.

Sept. 26

-Calgary trades Connor Bear and Aleksey Chichkin to the Regina Pats for a 2025 2th round pick and a 2026 3rd round pick.
-Spokane trades Cooper Michaluk to the Prince George Cougars for a 2027 5th round pick.

Sept. 27

-Victoria Royals trade Ryan Tamelin to Spokane for a 2025 8th round pick.
