Trade Sends Defenseman Gosselin to Adirondack
The Adirondack Thunder have announced the club has acquired defenseman Kurt Gosselin from the Orlando Solar Bears in exchange for the rights to defenseman Matt Stief.
The 29-year-old Gosselin appeared in 48 regular-season games with the Kalamazoo Wings, Reading Royals and Solar Bears last season, netting four goals and 13 assists for 17 points.
The Brighton, Michigan native also appeared in 11 Kelly Cup Playoff contests with Orlando.
Gosselin has played in a total of 147 regular-season ECHL games with Cincinnati, Toledo, Kalamazoo, Reading and Orlando, scoring 55 points (22-33-55) during that span. He also appeared in eight AHL games with the Rochester Americans.
Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound blueliner played four seasons of collegiate hockey at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, tallying 58 points in 118 games.

Gosselin played three seasons in the BCHL with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, registering 88 points (26-62-88) in 122 games. He was named a BCHL First Team All-Star in 2014-15, finishing second on the team in scoring that season with 43 points (12-31-43).
The 5-foot-9, 175-pound Stief spent the previous three seasons with Adirondack and Idaho. Over 190 career ECHL regular-season contests, the 28-year-old Weston, Florida native has recorded 79 points (8-71-79). In 12 Kelly Cup Playoff appearances, he has two assists.
Stief played collegiate hockey at Canisius University, where he served as an assistant captain his senior season and was an All-Atlantic Hockey Third Team selection.
