The Blue Jackets' acquiring Bobrovsky from the Flyers in 2012 turned out to be one of the most impactful trades in franchise history.
The Flyers sent Bobrovsky, a promising young goaltender, to Columbus in exchange for a second-round pick and two fourth-round picks.
What happened next was remarkable. Bobrovsky quickly developed into an elite goalie, winning the Vezina Trophy in 2013, his first season in Columbus.

Over seven seasons with the Blue Jackets, Bobrovsky won a second Vezina, set franchise records, and was the backbone of the team’s success.
His standout performances in key moments, like the Blue Jackets’ historic sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2019 playoffs, cemented his legacy.
For the Flyers, the trade was more of a misstep. The picks were used to select: Anthony Stolarz with the 2012 second-round pick, Taylor Leier with the 2012 fourth-round pick and 2013 fourth-round pick was traded to the Los Angeles Kings are part of the Flyers reacquiring Simon Gagne.
