Tour de France standings: Race outlook after Stage 14
The Tour de France Stage 14 saw Tadej Pogacar of UAE Team Emirates triumph in a thrilling finish on Saturday. The race, which traveled from Pau to Saint Lary-Soulan Pla d'Adet, featured the most visited climb in Tour history, the Col Du Tourmalet, a climb that holds significant historical importance in the Tour de France.
The stage kicked off with an unexpected turn of events: Thomas Pidcock of Ineos Grenadiers was forced to withdraw after testing positive for COVID-19. This unfortunate development marked the end of Pidcock's race, but he is now set to focus on defending his gold medal from the Tokyo Olympics in Paris. Later, Amaury Capiot of Team Arkea-B&B Hotels added to the drama by abandoning the race after dismounting from his bike, visibly upset and unable to continue.
Tadej Pogacar and Adam Yates of UAE Team Emirates overtook Ben Healy to move into the lead. Pogacar eventually took the lead on his own with 4 km to go, with Jonas Vingegaard of Team Jumbo-Visma chasing close behind. However, Vingegaard's efforts fell short as Pogacar claimed his second stage victory at this Tour de France.
