Tottenham XI vs Newcastle: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injuries

Ange Postecoglou has named a strong Tottenham starting line-up to face Newcastle in a friendly today.

Brandon Austin takes the goalkeeper gloves behind a defence featuring Emerson Royal at left-back, but otherwise it is effectively a full-strength team from the squad available.

The former Celtic manager has talked of his more lofty ambitions ahead of next season, as well as the size of the rebuild the club need this summer.

Before any of that can happen, however, Spurs travel to Melbourne to play their Premier League rivals.

Spurs have taken a 24-man squad Down Under but have left Cristian Romero and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at home.

Ashley Phillips, Jamie Donley and Alfie Devine are among the youngsters who will try to impress off the bench.

Their injured players in Richarlison, Destiny Udogie, Manor Solomon, Timo Werner, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Giovani Lo Celso, Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon have not travelled.

The highly-rated young forward Mikey Moore has also not made the journey due to his involvement with the England U17s.
