Tottenham star's agent reveals what type of defender they want to sign in summer transfer window

Tottenham are planning to sign a versatile defender to reinforce Ange Postecoglou’s backline, according to the agent of Radu Dragusin.

Florin Manea gave regular updates over his client when Spurs signed him from Genoa in January and has now discussed his future after Dragusin’s role in Romania’s win over Ukraine at Euro 2024.

Amid talk of the centre-back being knocked down the pecking order by Tottenham’s desire to bring in a new defender, he has claimed that any addition must be able to play multiple positions.

“From what I know, Spurs are not looking for a pure central defender, they are more looking for a versatile defender,” he told Romania’s TVPlay, via TMW.

“In any case Dragusin is ready for anything, he is not afraid of the competition. I'm not worried because such a strong defender cannot be stopped. His growth cannot be slowed down.

“Tottenham have always placed their trust in him and in Serie A he faced very strong attackers.”

Bologna defender Ricardo Calafiori has been linked with Spurs, who are also fielding reported interest in Cristian Romero from Real Madrid. Joe Rodon and Emerson Royal could leave as a busy summer gently ramps up for the north Londoners.

Manea also claimed that scouts were in situ for Artem Dovbyk’s performance in Munich, with Napoli tipped to sign the Ukrainian striker, as he joked that interested parties could have also been watching Dragusin.

“We were spectacular,” he stated. “Nobody expected a result like that, a 3-0 victory for Romania.

“As for Dragusin, what can I say, it doesn't surprise me anymore because I know how he works. If he continues like this, he could become one of the best central defenders in the world.

“Today my partner told me they were there Napoli scouts at the stadium to watch Dovbyk. Maybe they saw the game Dragusin played..!”
