Tottenham moved into the top four with a comfortable 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest, sealed by brilliant second-half strikes from defenders Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro.

Murillo’s own goal gave the hosts an early lead but Forest equalised before half-time through Chris Wood.

Spurs produced another stirring second half, with van de Ven and Porro both scoring screamers from inside the box.

Dan Kilpatrick was at the ground to rate the Spurs players…

Guglielmo Vicario 8

Made a brilliant save to deny Ryan Yates and did enough to put off Wood, who struck the post with the rebound. Commanded his box.

Pedro Porro 7

Finished spectacularly to make the game safe. Caught out in the first half, leading to Wood’s shot against the post, and nutmegged for the Forest goal.

Cristian Romero 7

Calm with and without the ball in an assured and but combative display.

Micky van de Ven 8

Restored Spurs’ lead with an absolute screamer from the edge of the area. It was a brilliant finish that any striker would have been proud of.

Destiny Udogie 7

Carried the ball forward really well. Occasionally caught out defensively and Forest’s goal came down his side.

Yves Bissouma 7

Played well, so presumably his departure at half-time was enforced. He was great in the build-up to the goal and twice had a go with fierce efforts from outside the box.

Pape Sarr 6

Got in some good positions but perhaps not fit enough to continue. Has been nursing a back injury since the March internationals.

James Maddison 7

Lively and influential, he created Porro’s goal with a dart down the left and cross which was flicked on by Bentancur. Fired a shot wide in the second half.

Timo Werner 8

Made another goal with an inviting cross which was a nightmare for Murillo. Final ball is mixed but more often than not good – he also made chances for Son and Johnson.

Brennan Johnson 7

Could not continue his hot streak of goals and assists against his former club but was lively and industrious, and involved in the build-up to van de Ven’s goal.

Heung-min Son 8

Set up van de Ven’s goal with a simple pass and played in Werner for the opener, too. Matz Sels twice made brilliant saves to deny him a goal, including turning the Korean’s shot onto the post.

Substitutes

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Bissouma 45’) 8

Drew an acrobatic save from Sels with his first action and added bite to the midfield in an impressive showing.

Rodrigo Bentancur (Sarr 45’) 8

Helped Spurs re-establish midfield control and set up Porro’s strike with a flicked-on header.

Giovani Lo Celso (Werner 76’) 7

Added tenacity and composure to the climax as Spurs saw out the game.

Dejan Kulusevski (Maddison 76’) 6

Energetic at No.10.

Dane Scarlett (Johnson 89’) 6

Presumably has earned a late showing with his performances in training.

Not used: Austin, Dragusin, Emerson, Davies.
