Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race to sign Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel as the club explores attacking reinforcements before the transfer deadline, according to the Daily Mail. Per the report, Spurs have registered interest in his services.

The 19-year-old is set to leave the Germans this month, with the Lilywhites among a host of Premier League clubs interested in securing his services. Spurs face a fight to bring him to north London.

A loan move appears to be Bayern’s preferred option, and while Chelsea are showing strong interest in Tel, reports indicate that the young Frenchman may need convincing to join the west Londoners.

Spurs’ interest in Tel is not new. Tottenham had briefly discussed signing him back in the summer of 2023 when they negotiated Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich. Now, with the talented forward available, the north London club has entered the fray for his signature.

However, competition for Tel remains fierce, with Manchester United and Arsenal also keeping tabs on the situation.

Spurs will need to move swiftly if they hope to win the race for the highly-rated attacker, who is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in European football.

Tottenham must do everything to secure Tel

Tel is the perfect profile to replace Spurs captain and legend Heung-min Son. He floats between being a winger and a striker. He possesses frightening power on the dribble with a bullet in both feet.

Technical Director Johan Lange needs to present the Tottenham Hotspur stadium as the perfect place for the Frenchman to spend the next six months.

Ange Postecoglou’s side has been ravaged by injuries and he will get ample game time to develop in a team that plays attacking football. His potential arrival would be a massive booster for the second half of the season.

If the Spurs top brass can add Tel, one or two defenders and a holding midfielder before the close of the window, then maybe they can dream of ending this current rot.
