Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been strongly linked with a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

According to Milannews24, the 28-year-old has been offered to Serie A AC Milan, but Tottenham’s excessive demands have put a potential move on hold.

Hojbjerg is valued at £15 million on Transfermarkt, but Tottenham want to recoup more than their initial investment in the midfielder. Milan are keen on signing Hojbjerg, but they’re reluctant to meet Tottenham’s demands.

It remains to be seen whether both parties can iron out an agreement in the coming weeks, but Milan will have to move fast, with Atletico Madrid also keen on the midfielder.

The Spanish giants believe the Spurs star is a cheaper alternative to Atalanta’s Ederson, Celtic’s Matt O’Riley, and Mats Wieffer, who has now joined Brighton & Hove Albion from Feyenoord.

Hojbjerg is not in manager Ange Postecoglou’s plans and was supposed to leave the club last summer. Atletico were interested then, but a move never materialised.

The Danish midfielder remained in north London but has fallen down the pecking order at the club behind Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Pape Matar Sarr.

Tottenham need to raise funds to strengthen the team

Hojbjerg is one of several players who will leave Tottenham this summer, with the club looking to raise funds to strengthen Postecoglou’s squad.

Spurs have already added Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall to the squad, but more additions are expected. However, the club need to raise funds and are desperate to get Hojbjerg off their books this summer.

Hojbjerg is in the prime years of his career and needs regular playing time, so a move away from Tottenham would benefit all parties involved.

A move to either Milan or Atletico will allow Hojbjerg to compete in the Champions League, which is an added incentive for the midfielder.
