Tottenham eye move for Juventus’ Federico Chiesa

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, according to Tuttojuve.

The north London club have initiated preliminary talks to assess the feasibility of a move for the 26-year-old Italian international.

Chiesa is seen as a potential solution to Spurs’ attacking woes following Manor Solomon’s departure and uncertainty surrounding Richarlison’s future.

The versatile forward can operate in multiple positions, making him an attractive proposition for Ange Postecoglou’s side as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season. A deal for Chiesa could see the forward earn a salary of €6m per season (€115k-a-week).

However, Spurs face competition for his signature, with several other clubs reportedly interested in securing his services.

They would need to pay a fee of between €25m and €30m to the Old Lady to get a deal across the line.

Chiesa notched nine goals and two assists (12 big chances created) in 35 Serie A appearances last term.

The Genoa-born forward had a decent campaign despite battling injuries and reportedly clashing with former boss Massimiliano Allegri.

Tottenham must steer clear of Chiesa

Despite a decent season in which he recorded ten goals and three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions, Spurs should be wary of signing Chiesa.

The Juventus star has struggled for fitness and consistency since joining the Bianconeri from Fiorentina, initially on loan before the deal became permanent in 2022.

Injuries tend to blight his rhythm and groove, making it hard for him to be consistent throughout the season.

Spurs need to be in the market for a dependable attacker who will raise the roof off the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, not one who will spend most of his time at the club in a hospital bed.

With Tottenham aiming to challenge for major honours, they will be better served targeting a more reliable and durable attacking option.
