Tottenham vs Liverpool - LIVE!

The Premier League weekend concludes in north London this afternoon as an injury-hit Spurs side look to earn a rare win over an out-of-sorts Liverpool side. Antonio Conte lost both Heung-min Son and Cristian Romero to injury in the weekend, adding to sizeable fitness woes, but hopes to have Dejan Kulusevski back today off the bench.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are looking to avoid a third consecutive league defeat, having been beaten by both Leeds and Nottingham Forest in recent weeks. However, they head to N17 with a fine record against Spurs - having won six and drawn three of their previous nine encounters.

Trent Alexander-Arnold said last week that defeat for Liverpool today would “end” their season. Why that cannot realistically be true in November, a defeat on the road today would leave Liverpool 13 points off Spurs. Follow the game below with Standard Sport’s dedicated live match blog, featuring expert analysis from Spurs correspondent Dan Kilpatrick.

Spurs far better in the second half but all the damage was done in the first, as Salah took advantage of poor defending to score twice.

He should score.

18:01 , Alex Young

74min: Henderson and Jones are on, replacing Firmino and Elliott.

17:59 , Alex Young

72min: Conte has been booked for punching away a football on the touchline.

GOAL!

17:57 , Alex Young

70min: Spurs have one back! Kane fires across Alisson and it's Kulusevski with the assist about one minute after coming on!

17:55 , Alex Young

69min: Kulusevski and Doherty are on for Spurs, replacing Emerson and Sessegnon.

Perisic will go back to left wing-back.

17:54 , Alex Young

68min: Another chance for Spurs as Kane meets Perisic’s free kick but it fizzes wide of Alisson’s far post. Inches.

17:53 , Alex Young

66min: Kulusevski is on his way.

Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham

17:52 , Alex Young

“Spurs have won plenty of games this season while playing worse than this but their final ball is painfully lacking. Emerson Royal and Rodrigo Bentancur have both overhit crosses from great positions, letting Liverpool off the hook.”

17:51 , Alex Young

64min: A good cross from the right, for once, as Emerson looks for Kane and Sessegnon at the back post, but the former takes it off the latter’s head and the chance goes begging.

17:48 , Alex Young

61min: Salah almost gifted another goal as Dier slips, allowing the forward to sprint through on goal until Davies makes a last-ditch tackle.

17:46 , Alex Young

59min: Spurs work it across the face of Liverpool’s penalty area and out wide to Bentancur, who has about three Spurs players lined up at the back post for a tap in but his cross is over all of them.

17:42 , Alex Young

55min: Kane almost nicks the ball away from an unawares Alisson, but the keeper just gets away with it.

17:41 , Alex Young

54min: Spurs at risk of being hit on the counter and Liverpool almost do just that as Salah fires in a low drive towards Lloris’ left-hand corner, but the keeper gets down to make the save.

17:37 , Alex Young

50min: Now Perisic hits the bar from eight yards! A fine cut back from Sessegnon.

Spurs firmly on the front foot.

17:35 , Alex Young

49min: Dier almost makes amends with a fine header at another corner, but Alisson makes a brilliant save to deny him.

17:33 , Alex Young

47min: Spurs straight on the front foot through Sessegnon and win an early corner... but the delivery fails to beat the first man.

Second half

17:32 , Alex Young

46min: Back underway in Tottenham. No changes for either team.

17:30 , Alex Young

The half-time announcer at Spurs is in a hopeful mood. He just said: “Tottenham Hotspur have won more points from going behind this season than any other Premier League team, so you know what to do!”

17:26 , Alex Young

Two from Salah sees the Reds firmly on course for their first away win of the season.

Spurs enjoyed good spells but very sloppy defending once again their downfall.

17:18 , Alex Young

46min: That’s your lot.

17:16 , Alex Young

45min: Two corners come to nothing. One minute added on.

17:15 , Alex Young

43min: Liverpool go close again as Lloris has to push Elliott’s shot away to concede a corner.

GOAL!

17:11 , Alex Young

40min: A suckerpunch for Spurs! Dier gets a clearing header all wrong and the ball just drops to Salah to run through a dink over Lloris.

Perfect finish.

Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham

17:09 , Alex Young

“The battle between Ryan Sessegnon and Trent Alexander-Arnold has been very watchable so far. Sessegnon is having the best of their duels but lacking a final ball; Alexander-Arnold is struggling defensively but his passing is superb.”

17:06 , Alex Young

33min: Alexander-Arnold pushes Sessegnon over again, but this time it is a foul. And he escapes a yellow card.

17:01 , Alex Young

30min: Half an hour gone and it’s a far more even game than the opening 10 minutes suggested it would be.

Liverpool haven’t tested Spurs since Salah’s goal.

16:58 , Alex Young

28min: Spurs on top, for now. Kane sends a ball over the top looking for Perisic in the area, but it’s a yard or two ahead of the Croatian.

16:57 , Alex Young

26min: Half a sight of goal for Sessegnon, who gets the better of Alexander-Arnold to drive into the area but Konate mops up.

16:53 , Alex Young

22min: Spurs have done well since going behind - as ever - but Liverpool keeping them at bay for now.

Looking at replays of that penalty incident, Alexander-Arnold really got away with one there.

16:50 , Alex Young

19min: Penalty shout for Spurs waved away by both the referee and VAR after Sessegnon goes down.

OFF THE POST!

16:47 , Alex Young

15min: Good response from Spurs! Perisic hits the post from a header and then Allison denies Hojbjerg.

16:45 , Alex Young

13min: Spurs concede first for the sixth game running and 13th time in 20 games this season.

They have gone on to win five of those games, though.

GOAL!

16:42 , Alex Young

11min: Just 11 minutes gone and it had already been coming!

Salah turns smartly inside the area to fire past Lloris after a smart flick from Nunez.

Dan Kilpatrick checks in

16:40 , Alex Young

“As expected, Ivan Perisic is in an unfamiliar role as Spurs’ second striker, with the Croatian playing up close to Harry Kane. Not much from either so far but Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez has already had a couple of sighters in a bright start.”

16:38 , Alex Young

7min: Again, Nunez has the ball on the left and this time curls a stop toward Lloris’ far post... and it’s inches wide!

16:36 , Alex Young

6min: Liverpool already finding plenty of joy down Spurs’ right-hand side, with Nunez twice in space but this time he opts to find Salah but only runs the ball out of play.

16:33 , Alex Young

3min: First sight of goal galls to the visitors as Nunez stings Lloris’s palms on the angle, just inside the area.

Kick-off!

16:31 , Alex Young

1min: Here we go!

16:22 , Alex Young

Final warm-ups.

Spurs very much patched up and will have to be at their best today to get a result against a Liverpool side who are pretty much as strong as they can be.

Score prediction

16:11 , Alex Young

It’s difficult to know what to expect from either of these sides, with Liverpool unable to produce any consistency and Tottenham seemingly incapable of putting together a complete performance over more than 45 minutes.

Another slow start from Spurs will surely be punished by Liverpool, who had plenty of chances in their defeats to Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.

With the hosts weakened further by the absence of Heung-min Son, this looks like a real chance for the Reds to close ground on their top-four rivals.

Liverpool to win, 2-1.

15:59 , Alex Young

With Newcastle's win at Southampton, Spurs drop to fourth ahead of kick-off.

Spurs need to record their first win in 10 against Liverpool to jump back into third.

Nunez back in

15:45 , Alex Young

For Liverpool, Darwin Nunez is back in the starting line-up, joining both Harvey Elliott and Andy Robertson.

Otherwise, it's a case of as you were for the Reds. James Milner has not been considered after suffering a concussion against Napoli.

Perisic up top

15:40 , Alex Young

So, given their injury crisis up top, Tottenham go 3-5-2 and draft in Ivan Perisic to play up front alongside Harry Kane.

Dejan Kulusevski is back after injury but not fit enough to start. Rodrigo Bentancur has shaken off fitness concerns to keep his place.

Not a lot of creativity in that team.

Here’s how the hosts look.

Liverpool team news

15:28 , Alex Young

James Milner has been ruled out of Sunday’s match due to concussion protocols following a head injury picked up against Napoli, but Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Jordan Henderson is fit and available.

Darwin Nunez came off the bench to score in the Champions League and will be hoping that cameo is enough for him to earn a place in the starting lineup.

Spurs team news

15:23 , Alex Young

Heung-min Son is almost certain to miss out as he undergoes surgery on a fracture around his left eye, putting his participation at the World Cup later this month in serious doubt.

Cristian Romero is not expected to return until after the tournament as he battles a calf injury in another blow to Conte. Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison are both nearing returns but will this weekend come too soon?
