Raptors break record for longest win streak by Canadian sports franchise

After laying waste to the Minnesota Timberwolves by a score of 137-126 at Scotiabank Arena on Monday night, the Toronto Raptors extended their monumental run and made Canadian history.

With their 15th consecutive victory, the Raptors now own the longest winning streak by a Canadian franchise in a major sports league.

The mark was previously held by the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL, who won 14 straight in 2016. In terms of NBA history, this current run by Toronto is tied with 12 other teams for 25th-longest all-time.

The high-powered victory the Raptors were able to make history with over Minnesota was headlined by a 34-point performance from Pascal Siakam and double-doubles manufactured by both OG Anunoby and Kyle Lowry. The Raptors’ 137 points is the second-most the team has scored in a single game this season.

If Toronto is able to get a victory against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, it will be over five weeks since the Raptors lost a game. The team last tasted defeat on Jan. 12 against the San Antonio Spurs.
