Toronto Raptors announce all members of organization test negative for COVID-19

The Toronto Raptors announced that all members of their organization that were tested for COVID-19 received their results, which all came back negative.

The Raptors released the following statement on Saturday:

The NBA suspended its season Wednesday after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19. A doctor for the Oklahoma City Thunder came sprinting onto the court before tip-off between Oklahoma City-Utah, and spoke to the officials, who subsequently cancelled the game.

Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell also tested for positive for COVID-19 and is reportedly upset with Gobert, after the center touched a number of reporter’s microphones as a joke.

Toronto defeated Utah 101-92 on Monday, where Gobert became a major storyline for an entirely different reason. Gobert and Raptors small forward OG Anunoby got into a heated exchange, which led to both of their ejections.

Gobert, the reigning two-time Defensive Player of the Year, was incensed after the game, telling reporters “next time, I’ll do justice myself” as he was furious that the officials didn’t punish Anunoby earlier for an errant elbow.

Serge Ibaka was the primary defender against Gobert, holding the Jazz star to six points and four rebounds in 32 minutes. It was reported Friday that Ibaka tested negative for COVID-19, before the Raptors awaited the rest of their results.

Ibaka posted a video Saturday while in self-quarantine, showing fans that he built a home gym to stay in shape during the league’s suspension.

The Raptors were among a group of teams the NBA reportedly told to get tested for COVID-19, which includes the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks.
