The Toronto Marlies have traded defenseman Matteo Pietroniro to the Rockford IceHogs for future considerations.
Pietroniro was in his fourth year with the Toronto organization and was pointless in five games with the Marlies this season.
The 26-year-old recorded 12 points in 99 career games with the team. He had 30 points in 64 career games for the Newfoundland Growlers, Toronto's former ECHL affiliate.

After re-claiming Dakota Mermis off waivers from Utah HC earlier this week the Marlies have nine defensemen on their roster, eight of whom have played at least 14 games for the team this season.
The move will allow Pietroniro more ice-time and provide the IceHogs with another option on the back end.
The Boise, Idaho, native signed a one-year AHL contract with the Marlies in September.
