Toronto Maple Leafs Recall Nikita Grebenkin, Place Connor Dewar On IR

The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled forward Nikita Grebenkin from the Toronto Marlies and placed forward Connor Dewar on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 20.

Grebenkin has appeared in seven games for the Maple Leafs this season and became an instant fan-favorite. He averaged 8:45 of ice time per game and is still looking to record the first point of his NHL career.

The 21-year-old has been solid with the Marlies in his first season in North America, he has eight goals and eight assists in 29 AHL games.

Dewar was announced as day-to-day with an upper-body injury prior to Toronto's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Jan. 21.

Grebenkin is not expected to suit up tonight against the Ottawa Senators, his Marlies teammate Jacob Quillan is expected to make his NHL debut on Toronto's fourth line.
