Toronto Maple Leafs Recall Jani Hakanpaa From Conditioning Loan
The Toronto Maple Leafs have activated defenseman Jani Hakanpaa from long term injured reserve and recalled him from his conditioning loan.
Hakanpaa played two games for the Toronto Marlies on his loan and recorded three shots on goal.
The 32-year-old defenseman is expected to suit up for the Maple Leafs for their game against the Washington Capitals tonight.
Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2010 draft by the St. Louis Blues, Hakanpaa recorded 12 points in 64 games with the Dallas Stars last season.

Hakanpaa has notched 33 points in 181 career AHL games and 45 points in 288 career NHL games.
After some concerns over a lingering back issue Hakanpaa ultimately signed a one-year deal worth $1.47 million deal with Toronto.
Veteran defenseman Matt Benning cleared waivers and was sent to the Marlies yesterday, he should step into the role Hakanpaa played in his two game AHL stint.
