Toronto Maple Leafs Assign Vyacheslav Peksa From ECHL To Toronto Marlies
The Toronto Maple Leafs have assigned goaltender Vyacheslav Peksa from the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones to the Toronto Marlies, it was announced Thursday.
Peksa, a 2021 sixth round pick of the Maple Leafs, is in his second season in North America, having spent time in both the AHL and ECHL this year. In one appearance with the Marlies, he posted a 6.00 GAA and a .778 SP. With the Cyclones, he has put together a record of 3-8-2, a 3.20 GAA and a .875 SP.
Prior to arriving in North America before the 2023-24 season, Peksa played junior and pro hockey in Russia.
As Peksa gets his first potential extended look at the AHL level, he will have the opportunity to try and prove himself to Maple Leafs management, He posted impressive numbers when in Russia but has had his ups and downs adjusting to North American ice. Peksa has the talent to stick at the AHL level but it will be on him to find his confidence again.
