Toronto Maple Leafs Assign Dennis Hildeby To Toronto Marlies, Recall Matt Murray

The Toronto Maple Leafs have sent goaltender Dennis Hildeby to their AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies and recalled Matt Murray.

Murray started his first NHL game since Apr. 3, 2023 on Dec. 20 and backstopped the Maple Leafs to a 6-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres, recording 24 saves on 27 shots against.

The Thunder Bay, Ont., native was sent down on Dec. 21, he re-joins the team with this move in order for Dennis Hildeby to get playing time.

Hildeby is starting for the Marlies in their Boxing Day game against the Belleville Senators.

The 23-year-old has a 2-1 record with a .875 SP with the Maple Leafs and a 2-2-2 record with a .897 SP with the Marlies this season.

The Maple Leafs play the Detroit Red Wings on Friday and Washington Capitals on Saturday, meaning fans could see Murray start his second game of the season in one of the games.
